games: Corn Hole Tourney, Trash Can Painting contest, Timed Wheel Changing
competition, Foot Race (while rolling a kart tire) and a possibility of other activities.
Some of the prizes are: 4 X $50 Russel Bucks certificates, 4 X $10 American

All positions are to be filled before racing can begin. The Sr Novice Yamaha class
is responsible as a finale effort to fill the positions. Keep in mind that all
turn marshals must be 18 years old or older. Workers do get gate fee refund,
paid in cash or can choose to recieve a participation "P"or ave annual

We just wanted to thank you all for the tremendous support and generous
donations you gave for the fundraiser Shinya Michimi was conducting. May is
Melanoma Awareness Month and our goal was to hopefully make everyone more
aware of melanoma, skin cancer, and prevention. We also wanted to show our
support for Carolyn Marsh, wife of fellow karter Keith Marsh, by raising
money for the Melanoma Research Foundation. Thanks to the incredible
generosity of the OVKA members, we raised a total of $273.55! A donation in
the amount of $273.55 has been made to the MRF in honor of Mrs. Carolyn
Marsh.
Again, we just want to thank you all for your generosity and support. It is
a privilege to spend time and race with such a caring group of people every
week. Thank you all so much! And remember, please wear sunscreen!

Welcome JoAnne Hartings to the OVKA Board. She is filling the vacancy left from Rick
Wagar. JoAnne and family were first exposed to racing by Don and Pat Rettich when
their son Scott started (probably 13 -14 years ago). Victor (JoAnne's son) started with
Kid Karts about 10 years ago, but, believe it or not, he lost interest! "Who would
have thought he would become such a motor head!", JoAnne said. In 2000 they made
their way back to the track to satisfy the need for speed. Victor is the only family
member racing. JoAnne states, "I guess you could say we've been around OVKA
about 8-10 years. My interest is to support the sport as a family activity and keep
it fun and safe." Please welcome and congratulate JoAnne to the board the next
time you see her at the track. Next OVKA race is Sunday May 21 "C" configuaration. And we will be

5/2/06 = The 2006 season points standings are now posted, reflecting the first
two races of the season. Also The lap times are now available here on
the site, as well as Race results from race #1 are also available.

New Board Member:
Welcome Doug Stempfley II to the OVKA Board. He is filling the
vacancy left from Jerry Whitaker. Doug has been in and around karting
since birth. Doug Sr raced in the 60’s at G&J, His brother Dan started
racing in 1990. Doug has run Yamaha lite in the 90’s, and currently runs
Yamaha Master. His son Chase also can be seen in the Jr Sportsman
Yamaha Class in 2006. Please welcome and congratulate Doug to the
board the next time you see him at the track.
